Florida Vacation - Wrapping Up

Well, it's now taken over a month to post about a week long vacation - sorry about that loyal readers! I hope to make up for it though... In the end we visited the Magic Kingdom 3 times during the week - it really was the best place for Maddie's age & her interests.

On the Wednesday I had made reservations to have a special lunch with Nana, MomMom, Madeline and Mommy at Cinderella's Castle. Daddy and PopPop had to fend for themselves that day for lunch *grin* It was also on this day that I learned a very important life lesson (or shall I say, was reminded because it's one I keep learning over and over again!)

I had never thought that I would dress up my child and take them to a park - it just seemd not very practical in general. I mean, how would you get on and off rides? etc... Well Aunt Tina had bought her her FAVORITE princess dressup dress (it really was adorable!) with stockings and shoes to match - everything! At first I was, hrm...I can have her wear that all day (not to mention this was also one of the cold days where we wore our winter jackets). I let her try it on at the house and you know what...she was the cutest princess in the world *chuckle* So I thought...she looked SOOOOO happy. Instead of her wearing it the entire day, I smooshed and rolled up the dress to make it fit into my backpack and yes, I did tote it around for the rest of the day until the appointed lunchtime at the castle. You do realize that when I said she was the cutest princess int he world that it was totally unbiased here you know!

*grin* Well, actually I DO have unbiased proof. Once we got her into her outfit and we went walking toward the castle with Nana and MomMom, fully decked out including the now standard crown on her head. A woman stopped us and asked permission to take her picture because she was "just too cute for words" So, there you have it!

When we got to the castle, Maddie got to meet Cinderella (you'll note that Maddie was mimicing Cinderella - since Cinderella sat on the ground to be at Maddie's level, Maddie thought she should sit too)

Once you are done with pictures with Cinderella, they take you up into the castle for your meal with all of the princesses who visit each table one at a time (don't worry I'm not going to bore you with all of the pictures)

But as you can tell here with Maddie's big smile with her FAVORITE princess both dressed in their pink princess dresses - she really was having a good time! I swear she was her favorite because of the pink dress. Maddie had never seen the Sleeping Beauty movie before...

Now, you may ask what a Princess eats while at Cinderella's Castle? Well Ye Old Royal Hotdog of course! MomMom, Nana and Mommy got something much more delectible...

As lunch was coming to a close, and all of the princesses were duly visited and autographs and photographs obtained...They had all of the children hold their wishing star and magic wand, urged them to close their eyes and make a wish...which resulted in some music, light show and ooohhhs and aaaaahhhs from Maddie.

Once we were done, we headed out to meet Daddy and PopPop and low and behold, Kristy & crew were there too! You know, we were all in Florida in the same house for a week and there was not one day when all of us were in one park at the same time. You know, hindsight is 20/20 but it would have been a perfect opportunity to get a big family shot with everyone together - didn't happen this time unfortunately!

Of course there were more rides, it wasn't all about visiting the princesses *grin*

Our last day at Disney was Maddie's 4th Birthday. Of course, she said she wanted a cake...what kid doesn't. So we started off the day with a cake and singing (we refrained from eating it until the evening though)

Here she is with her Birthday button which prompted every single cast member at Disney to wish her "Happy Birthday Princess Madeline". It sort of was odd to her at first that everyone knew her name... Because it was her birthday, and we had been to each of the parks (well, didn't go to the MGM Hollywood Studios) we asked Maddie where she wanted to go. I was all set for her to say Magic Kingdom which would have been great since we wanted to stay for the fireworks at the castle, etc....but she said she wanted to go back to Animal Kingdom and smell the rhino again. *chuckle* Well...that's what we did. First stop was Animal Kingdom again to go on the safari, dino ride and out to Rafiki's Conservation area.

Yes, there were more characters to meet, autographs to obtain and pictures to take...Halfway through the day, we did the park hopping and hopped back over to the Magic Kingdom where we enjoyed more rides, the parade and hulahooping! While that was convineint - that was really the only day we did park hop. Next time I won't spend that extra $...

Princess float at the parade - the dancers in between the floats were all smiles and while still doing the coreography was able to spot the button on Maddie's shirt, read it, smile and wish her a happy birthday!

Maddie I think might have had more fun while we were waiting for the parade to start with the hulahoops, rolling them, jumping through them and totally NOT hulahooping, although not for a lack of trying!

All in all...we had a great time at Disney, I know that Maddie did. When asked what her favorite part of vacation was she said "EVERYTHING!" This really was the perfect age to take her, everything was just so magical for her, although some rides she wasn't big enough for, and some were scary for her...I think it really was the perfect age.
