Easter Egg Farm Fun!!

I am quite behind in my blogging...forgive me! I still have tons of pictures I need to download from our cameras, but I'll at least get the text up! (oh yes, I hear the groans from the audience! [aka Nana, Mom mom and Pop pop] TEXT?!?! No pictures?!?!?! Forget THIS blog, I'll come back later!)

Last weekend, we had a little family outing for Maddie...we went to a program that the Nature Society holds for kids at Coverdale Farm. If you read the title of this post, you'll know that it was a program called "Easter Egg Farm". Their programs are good (yes this is being biased as I once worked there when we first moved to the state until I got my present job) because they limit the number of people, so everyone has a good experience, very personalized. It was a chilly day, but thankfully it wasn't raining. Apparently the cool weather kept half of the already small group away so there were 8 people, including parents enjoying this outing on the farm. The instructor took us through the farm, and showed the kids (ages ranging from 2 yrs old to 7 yrs old) the sheep and baby lambs, the mother pig and her 15 piglets!!!, and of course, the chickens, which layed colored eggs! Pink ones! Green ones! Brown ones! White ones! And then got to "hold" and "touch" the baby chicks that were just hatched, couple days old and couple weeks old. Maddie had a blast! She LOVES animals and she LOVES being outside...so double bonus parent points for us! After the farm tour, we went into one of the farm buildings for story time and snack time, the feature book was one called "The Easter Egg Farm". THEN, if snack and stories weren't enough, we then did some crafts, including coloring eggs! It was fun, you should ask Daddy for his thoughts on it though *grin*

The rest of that weekend was spent working on taking parts of the darn tree down from our front yard. It vexes me...
